Introducing Your 24-25 Section III Director

 Section III,

    Hey guys!!! I am so excited to bring this new resource for spotlights, events, and stories to come to life for our Section. To start this first blog post off, I would like to introduce you guys to me, Emma Ruf so I can reach everyone easier. I am from Connersville, IN and District IX where I am serving as my chapter’s President and district’s Vice President! 

    In my chapter, I am one of the most active members who participates in Agriscience, Crop Scouting, Crops, sometimes Dairy Judging, Chapter Meeting/Parli Pro, and demos! Other than CDEs and LDEs, I like to do proficiencies on my SAE “FFA Corn” and “Farm Management”. My SAE “FFA Corn” has surrounded three agriscience projects that all started with my family taking over our family farm. The first year I did an experiment about the germination of 20+ year old seeds, the next was a comparison of generic, historic, and heirloom seeds, and finally the crossing of two different colored corn (yellow and blue) to make a hybrid FFA Corn. All of these experiments have involved from things I have learned throughout the three years of experimenting which has brought me many public speaking experiences, colleague interviews, and much more. 

    Through my experiences of trying something new with my agriscience projects, winning state and going to nationals for my FFA Corn project, and overall getting out of my comfort zone, I wouldn’t have wished for anything better. Going through these leadership positions as well has helped me appreciate the time I have to impact someone’s life. Even though in today’s blog I don’t talk about much, I hope that reading about someone else’s experiences in FFA encourages you to step out of your comfort zone today, in a week, or even in the next school year.
